New a-n people
Rosanne Robertson works from Castlefield Gallery in Manchester as a research assistant for a-n Jobs and opps, where she also works as a gallery assistant.
She graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a first class honours degree in fine art in 2009, she is currently based in Manchester maintaining her practice, developing new ideas and exhibiting.
Her most recent exhibition was as part of a collective called ‘Castlefield Contemporaries’ which is a group of new Manchester-based artists who are aiming to utilise alternative art spaces and communicate with viewers through new means, whilst at the same time providing a platform to share ideas with other artist led groups.
“My work aims to alter the way the viewer processes information. Questioning what we see and experience they comment on the position/role of the artist and viewer equally. Attempting to show what occurs when the substance is removed and the surrounding elements are highlighted I use social networking, performance, written word, diagrams, photography, video, documentation and research projects to produce pieces constantly evolving and changing depending on their surroundings and viewers.”
“I have a big interest in all things art and all things new. I aim to create experiences which challenge both me and the viewer through experimental and conceptual art works. My inspiration comes from human behaviour, the act of viewing and the relationship people have with modes of communication and technology. I aim to be part of the positive development of the ‘art world’ as a whole and for me and my work to be a beneficial influence and part of the cycle that constantly evolves and pushes the boundaries of what we understand art to be. I also aim to take over the world.”
