A guide to using Jobs & Opps as a learning resource

Here at a-n we have amassed a wealth of information on who the movers and shakers are in the jobs and opportunity market for visual artists. Established organisations and funding bodies, as well as tomorrow’s cutting-edge artist-curators, use a-n to reach artists. Now we have devised a guide to help tutors and students get the most out of our Jobs and opps site.

The guide outlines how to gain sector intelligence on what opportunities are out there. It is punctuated with a number of activities that can be integrated into professional practice modules. The activities highlight the importance of understanding the market, learning how to assess current and future practice in relation to jobs, lateral thinking and more. There are also hints and tips from artists and leading professional practice advisers.

Encourage your students to find out who is successful in gaining an opportunity and what selectors are looking for in an application. Armed with this knowledge of the field, they will be better equipped to develop their professional career for years to come.
