Located on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park in the rural village of Lumsden, Scottish Sculpture Workshop (SSW) is a making and thinking facility.
Through a series of projects that embed and explore the importance of place, SSW provides residencies, courses, events and oppportunities for visual artists, from training to professional practice. The projects explore both our location within Scotland and the international arts, as well as collaborations and skills exchange between visual artists, local specialists and the wider North East community - considering our rural locale within a globalised society.
Operating within an established ethos, history and mode of practice, SSW offers a range courses, workshops and educational activities and hosts a variety of discursive events, talks and symposiums. Our open programme offers unrestricted access to technical expertise, facilities for artists across the disciplines and the support for the development of new modes of thought and enquiries.
