Factory Nights is a series of free, informal working sessions for visual artists and other creatives, held in venues of historical or architectural interest. During these sessions, artists have come together to make new work inspired by these spaces and discuss current practice and potential collaborations. Factory Nights have become a great success, with venues ranging from a Masonic Temple to a rooftop football pitch. Venues have been chosen for their potential for future collaborations, the first of these being Factory Nights by Day, held during the Wallsend Festival on 5 July 2008. Artists Adinda van ‘t Klooster, Brighid Mulley and Sarah Stamp worked alongside rednile artist/founders to create new site-specific work inspired by the architecture, history and clientèle of the Mecca bingo hall – site of the first Factory Night. Future sessions and collaborations include Durham’s first Factory Night in September 2008.

Factory Nights are supported by Arts Council England North East, North Tyneside Council and Sunniside Partnership.
