WHO: Artists.

WHAT: Birth Rites Collection/Salford University Midwifery department and Salford University Collections are looking for an artist to send expressions of interest to run a series of workshops with young fathers from the Salford Area to make work in response to the two new Judy Chicago Acquisitions
donated to Birth Rites Collection www.birthritescollection.org.uk. The two works are from Chicago's 1980's birth project and are tapestries. This project is provisional on funding so currently we are seeking proposals about how you might approach working with young fathers and what discipline you are interested in exploring with them.

WHEN: We imagine 7 morning workshop sessions plus 3 research and development 1/2 days. June 2012.

DETAILS: Resources for the project include the Birth Project book written by Judy Chicago which outlines the collaborative nature of the birth project and some catalogues, a video documenting the process and a recent interview between Helen Knowles Birth Rites Curator and Judy Chciago recorded in her studio in 2012. The two works will also be on display from June 2012 in the collection at Salford University Midwifery department. There may also be an opportunity to present work in Media City.
