Elizabeth Prince Ceramics, Ceramicist's assistant P/T, Volunteer placement

WHO: Suit recent creative graduate.

WHAT: Part time assistant to ceramicist 1-2 days per week (Mon-Fri), to assist with running small creative business and learn all aspects of marketing and producing creative work. May suit recent creative graduate, not necessarily in ceramics as skills may be transferable and days can be flexible. Depending on the work coming in to the studio and length of placement, you may gain experience in some or all of the following: Marketing creative work effectively online, running a small creative business including admin, accounting, quotations etc, creating marketing material, finishing and glazing ceramics, working with clay, operating/loading a kiln, packaging ceramics, liasing with customers, selling creative work, liasing with galleries, product photography and picture editing, helping with ceramics workshops, maintaining and editing websites, using social media, ensuring studio runs smoothly – eg organising, ordering supplies etc. You will need to be reliable, proactive, creative, easy to get on with, fast, resourceful, and quick to learn. Where possible, you will be given the opportunity to gain any specific experience that you wish to gain, but you will be expected to perform all tasks as required. This is a small studio, and you will be working one to one with the artist for the majority of the time. Because of this the work may vary, and will depend on what is happening in the studio, and what work needs to be done on a particular day. Ceramics experience is not necessarily required - many of the skills experienced would suit other creative disciplines and those wishing to learn how to market their own creative work and run their own creative business, or gain experience for employment with a creative organisation.
