Cultural Innovation Fund

WHO: Emerging Cultural Practitioners and Artists. It doesn’t matter how old you are, but simply that you must have been practising professionally for three years or less (and have been paid for the work you do).
You could be a visual artist, digital artist, graphic designer, filmmaker, sculptor, theatre director, performer, dancer, MC, musician, DJ, VJ, free runner, curator, archivist, writer, librarian, poet, clown, extreme unicyclist, martial artist, programmer, skater, bmx-er, basket-weaver, fashion designer, knitter, seamstress, jewellery maker, archaeologist, landscape gardener, architect, glass blower, potter, conservationist… almost anything you can think of that has creativity at its core.

WHAT: NE-Generation is the Legacy Trust UK regional programme for the North East, inspired by London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and is currently made up of 9 Commissioned Projects and a 10th, Collective Project.
NE-Generation is launching the Cultural Innovation Fund of £100,000 and is seeking to support a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 new projects with funds of between £10,000 - £25,000. NE-Generation are looking for up and coming practitioners with exciting ideas that will complement the existing programme.
The Cultural Innovation Fund projects will run from July 2011 to July 2012 and will benefit from mentored advice, support and development in addition to financial backing. The Cultural Innovation Fund is a process that starts with ideas and leads to projects.
NE-Generation is working to improve how young people and the cultural sector in the North East work together; developing more meaningful opportunities for young people across the region to experience, participate in and generate cultural activity.
Successful Cultural Innovation Fund projects will become part of the growing NE-Generation programme, and work with the support of the overarching Digital, Film and Academic Teams in developing activity that
aims to change the cultural map of the North East.
