Linking with Visual Artists Ireland
Members of the AIR Artists Advisory Group will be meeting Noel Kelly, Chief Executive Officer/Director of Visual Artists Ireland in August to discuss current plans and explore areas of mutual interest.
Visual Artists Ireland is the all Ireland body for professional visual artists. As a membership organisation, it provides services, facilities and resources for artists, initiates artistic projects and publications and acts as an advocate on behalf of individual artists.
Creating working relationships with other national and international artists organisations is an integral part of AIR's development strategy. AIR has held discussions already with CARFAC, and in October 2009 AIR is formally accepted as a member of the European Council of Artists.
In instigating the meet-up, Noel Kelly said it was important to discuss what's planned by both organisations and see what similarities there are, perhaps with a view to formally setting up some sort of relationship, that would be of particular interest to VAI UK members based in Northern Ireland.
