AIR Salons for 2010
As part of widening the scope and value of AIRs artists events programme, that includes AIRTIME and Open dialogues, a new strand will be launched in April.
AIR Salons are designed to provide support to initiatives by AIR members who have recognised the need to create new opportunities for critical debate in their area. AIR Salons are intended to complement and extend existing activities. By raising awareness more widely of the issues that arise, AIR wants to strengthen the artists' role within cultural debate and help identify the key issues for artists, to inform AIR's future campaigns and advocacy.
The 2009 AIR survey revealed that 73% of members wanted events or think tanks that would to enable artists to identify key issues for research and campaigns such as to improve artists' working conditions.
AIRTIME events provide fast-paced information and networking events to support artists' professional and business development. Open dialogues provide a confidential space for artists to discuss the issues and approaches that drive their practice and to reflect amongst peers on their future plans.
More information on how members can propose an AIR Salon topic will be carried in the March AIR e-bulletin.
