Visiting artists campaign update

Manifesto Club coordinates letter to The Times with English PEN.

With a new government in power, this is a prime opportunity to influence policy and ask our newly elected MPs to review the visa regulations and the points-based system.

On 19th May the following letter by the Manifesto Club was published in the Times:

Points-based visa system alienates visitors to UK »

In it they claim the visa regulations are ruining Britain's reputation as a cultural hub and also turning cultural institutions and universities, against their will, into surveillance arms of a UK Border Agency, itself largely unaccountable.

The Manifesto Club calls for an urgent review of the misjudged and obtusely implemented points-based visa system. They note that this was a key issue for the Liberal Democrats on their election campaign, questioning whether it will simply be ignored under the new coalition government.

You can do a number of things to help the campaign. Forward the link above to The Times letter to your local MP, and any other MPs or Lords whom you have contact with, and tell them that you support the call to review the visa regulations and the points-based system.
