These monthly e-bulletin with updates are especially for artists in AIR and include invites to AIR events and opportunities to participate in UK-wide surveys on artists and the environment for their practice. Artists in AIR can access current and archived AIR e-bulletins using their a-n+AIR password.
The wait is over. On Wednesday 20 October, Chancellor George Osborne announced his comprehensive spending review – and artists were hit hard. Arts Council England had its budget cut by almost a third – a total of around £350m over four years. The DCMS has asked ACE to protect front line organisations – but there are rumours up to 100 organisations could lose their funding altogether. AIR now has over 15,000 members - it is officially the largest ever UK membership body for visual and applied artists. Under the Coalition government, 100,000 signatures on the Save the Arts petition will guarantee a debate on arts funding in the House of Commons.
