Inform ARTISTS' RIGHTS DACS - the Design and Artists Copyright Society - is leading a campaign against the Government's decision to delay implementation of the Artist's Resale Right for artists' heirs and beneficiaries. Despite Minister for Intellectual Property, David Lammy MP, revealing earlier this year that ninety per cent of the respondents to the Government consultation on the Artist's Resale Right wrote in favour of implementing the Right for artists' heirs without further delay, Government has chosen to ignore their views. Artist's Resale Right pays a modest royalty to artists when their original works of art are resold by art dealers, galleries or auction houses. Since 2006 £7.5million has been paid to over 1,500 artists. Add your name to the DACS online petition. Just when the 2008 ECA Annual Conference was debating artists' mobility and artistic freedom in a globalised world, the UK Border Agency introduced draconian measures that will severely restrict entry to the UK by non-EU artists and performers.
