Exhibition and Research Interns

WHO: Applicants will need to have good interpersonal and organisational skills; proficiency using Mac computers (Essential: Word, Excel, Entourage / Desirable: Photoshop, Dreamweaver); a practical and independent approach; and knowledge of contemporary art is desirable. You will receive one-on-one training and will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the running of a contemporary project space and studio complex.

WHAT: S1 Artspace & Art Sheffield are currently seeking exhibition and research interns to work alongside the programming team at S1 Artspace. We are looking for people to contribute to the research and development of the future programme at S1 Artspace and the next Art Sheffield Festival planned for 2013. The role will also include some administration of the current and forthcoming programme, assisting with press and marketing activities, helping with exhibition installations and contributing to general office administration.

WHEN: The successful candidates must be available for one day per week for the hours of 12 - 6pm. Days are flexible but would need to be between Tuesday - Friday. The internship is for an initial period of three months after which it will be reviewed. Closing date: Monday 23 April. Interviews: Wednesday 25 April.

PAYMENTS: This is a voluntary position and therefore unpaid however travel costs will be covered, applicants must be based in the local area.

DETAILS: The forthcoming programme at S1 Artspace includes an international group exhibition; a collaboration with Doc/Fest and Site Gallery; an international residency in collaboration with Henry Moore Institute and the Front, a group exhibition reflecting on the history and legacy of the Concrete Art movement. The next Art Sheffield 2013 Festival is scheduled to take place from October 2013 and includes partners and collaborators across the city. It will include work by both local and international artists including Joseph Beuys, Wirtschaftswerte (Economic Values), 1980, which will be presented at Graves Art Gallery alongside works from its collection. The Festival will be developed over the next year through a series of debates and discussions hosted across the city by various individuals and organisations.
