WHAT: pARTicipate is a demonstration programme developed from a partnership between the Oldham and Rochdale Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder, Oldham and Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Councils and Arts Council North West.

Our vision is for arts and cultural activities to play a key part in the delivery of the HMR Pathfinder programme and beyond. To this end, this programme will explore and evaluate different ways of integrating art and the use of artists into the delivery of transformational change within HMR intervention neighbourhoods.
The Pathfinder will oversee six specific arts and cultural projects over the next three years, as well as supporting and facilitating partner organisations to deliver to this agenda within their own work.  Individual projects will be managed by HMR's delivery partners and a variety of arts practices in both process-based and physical art will be commissioned.    Artists and creatives will be assigned to work within and across the HMR intervention neighbourhoods in Oldham and Rochdale, supporting the work of the Pathfinder by focusing on one or more of the following themes: Sense of place Community cohesion and integration Engagement and empowerment . The intention is that the positive impact of this programme will be felt beyond the lifetime of the Pathfinder, not least as creative skills will be embedded within neighbourhoods to the long-term benefit of individuals and communities.
We are now looking for an organisation or individual to act as the pARTicipate Programme Coordinator until March 2011 (with a potential extension to March 2012 pending budget confirmation).  We envisage that an average of 8 or 9 days per month will be required, but with some flexibility particularly during the first six months of the programme.  A budget of £18,000 per annum is available. The Coordinator will be required to oversee the implementation of the programme and support individual projects with arts expertise.
