WHO: student practitioners of hand/machine knitting and crochet (undergraduates and those graduating in 2009).
WHAT: award aimed at exploring the art and craft of contemporary knitting (hand or machine knitted) and crochet. Work will be judged on originality, overall concept and the innovative use of technique, yarns, materials and colour.
WHEN: 15 entries will be selected for the finalist’s exhibition which will be staged at the Knitting and Stitching Shows Autumn 2009, 8-11 Oct, Alexandra Palace, London and 19–22 Nov, Harrogate.
PAYMENTS: 1 prize £1,000 for overall best in both design and originality, 3 further prizes of £350 each.
