WHAT: PhD Studentship in Urban Regeneration
WHEN: to start 1 February
PAYMENTS: £13,290 plus fees for a maximum of three years. UK/EU residence eligibility conditions apply
DETAILS: researching regional initiatives towards urban regeneration and their impact on one or more of the following: design quality; sustainable design; housing design; the coastal city. Potential project themes are: public space and its social, cultural and economic considerations relating to a broader understanding of the city; the infrastructure of the urban environment; ‘brown field’ development; mixed use development; the ‘green wedge’; and the regional implications of funded research programmes for public space and the public realm. Located in the Centre for Art, Architecture and Design (CAAD), part of the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at University of Portsmouth. Research in the Centre is concerned with the application of critical, theoretical and historical perspectives to these practices, in the recognition that art, design, architecture and media re-present social and cultural meanings and their potential transformation. Art, design and media research embraces exploration of cultural process and product.
