Manor Oaks Ceramics Residency 2011
WHO: Mid-career/established ceramicists.
WHAT: This new residency starting January 2011 is closely linked to new starter studio programmes at new studio sites in the Manor Oaks neighbourhood of Sheffield. This 1 year residency provides access to the equipped ceramics studio with kiln, spray booth and wheel. Also available is a resident fee, production and materials budget and support with travel and accommodation costs. Resident artists are expected to have dialogue with the emerging ceramicists on the New Starter programme. They will also be expected to engage with the wider community of the manor oaks area.
WHEN: The resident artist will work at Manor Oaks for a minimum of 25 days spread over a 1 year period. The studio/ceramic workshop is available to use 24/7 and the artist is at liberty to work more than the 25 days minimum.
PAYMENTS: £5,000 for daily subsistence and localised travel (there is also a budget to cover the cost of travel outside of Sheffield and/or accommodation). £2,500 available for residency materials and/or production budget. This budget is intended to cover expenditure related to thedevelopment/ production of work whilst in residence.
DETAILS: To complement the project an arts reviewer/critic/writer is commissioned to write a 1000word article on the artist and their work. The text will be published on the Yorkshire Artspace website and in the poster publication produced to document and promote the residency programme.
