WHO: Mid-career/established visual artists
WHAT: Yorkshire Artspace are managing 10 new studios in a mixed use building in the Parson Cross area of Sheffield. These studios are currently in the process of being built and are due for completion in the Summer of 2011. There are no parameters placed on what is produced during this residency but rather by providing time, place and money Artspace hope that the artist will develop ideas/work that might be of interest or relevance to the people who live in Parson Cross. Artists are also expected to give time to and engage with the artists on the Starter Studio Program.
WHEN: The resident artist will work at Parson Cross for a minimum of 25 days spread over a 1 year period. A minimum of 25 days direct involvement is expected but the artist can set his/her time table to suit his/her needs and other commitments in negotiation with the Programme Manager.
PAYMENTS: £5,000 for daily subsistence and localised travel (there is also a budget to cover the cost of travel outside of Sheffield and/or accommodation). £2,500 available for residency materials and/or production budget.
