Humberto Velez: The Mancunian Way

(part of ‘For The Time Being, A Promise of Progress’ in 2004, curated by Alison Kershaw). Panamanian artist Humberto Vélez worked with skilled local young dancers, singers, craftswomen and writers to create an action, whereby the building was ‘stormed’ by local youth, arriving like heroes on a double decker bus to reclaim their space with a spectacular choreographed performance and specially composed anthem.
