Life after my MA

On Wednesday went visit a school with one of the art Groups I am member of, to see if i would be interested in doing an Art project with The Primiary Children.

I come away very excited with my mind working over time lots of ideas..

I need to work on a few proposals to e-mail off. can’t wait to get started..

It’s be awhile since I worked with Children, xx

I have found the end of last year and the beginning this difficult to get the drive to do any art work. As my work every site-specific, or as this just been excuse I kept telling myself.

Anyway I decided to just make some work and worry about exhibiting or not at a later date.

I had been lucky enough to visit Monet’s gardens in the Summer so I decided to use this as starting point, to get me moving, to start me off again. Stop life taking over.

I looked at all the photographs I taken of the Gardens and my emotion responds to the visit. This involved my work and I been working on this piece of a few months now it’s a work in progress, I am just pleased to be back making work.

I went to a meeting yesterday of a new Art Group set up in Mold N.Wales,

I was a different group I am use too, it was mostly Photographers and Design and communication artists.

It was a great meeting for me, as their Fields are so different to mine and who they are selling their work,

When I have gone to meets with Fine artists like me, we talk about want we doing now and not about who to sell how work,

May be this will be go for me, as I have been making art for years now and never made any money for this, it always cost me money. It would be great to be able finish working and spent all my time to create art.

So I decided next year I am going to work very hard to get my art career back on track, I have let it slip the last 6 months.

May be I need to do a course so I have a focus?

Open Studios finished last weekend, I could not make it as I work every other weekend, but Janie who studio I spared with said she had lots of visitor more than the weekend before.

I had some good feedback which is great. Lots of other artist use these weekends to sell work, May be I need to think about that.. I am no good in selling myself in this way. I use the weekends to put my work out there.

i am starting to get ideas together for some new work, using materials I have not used before, so I have not commited myself to any for rest of the year, as I want time to develop this work with out the pressier of exhibing them.

I getting excited about this new work, just hope works like the images I have in my head.

Are Great weekend 65 visitors to the open studios. I had some very good feedback about my new piece, which his always good.

Doing the open studios for me always give me a boose of confidence as it’s away of getting to hear want the public think about my work but also it’s good for me to explain want my works about.

It’s a shame I am working next weekend and will miss the open studio.
