North Devon School of Art - University of Plymouth

By: Emma Kaiser

North Devon School of Art is part of North Devon College and a partner college of University of Plymouth. At present the college only offers Foundation Degrees but fingers crossed a third top up year to full BA will be available as of 2009.

Just discovered this blog section to a-n what a great way to record your degree progress, and also to compare your experiences with those of other under grads. Just had my first second year assessment and I have to agree with my tutors boy had the amount of work needed to keep my marks good gone up a level. Thought I was working flat out last year but this year is even more intense. Still its all good. I'm looking into locations around Devon and creating work designed to increase the audiences awareness of their surroundings, as well as trying out a range of locations for situating my work.

After completing a BA(hons)  in Contemporary Art from Manchester Met Uni in 2003 and bumming around the world for a few years I finally settled in Devon. Having been away from the art world for a while starting a foundation degree at my local college was a great way to get back to creativity while I decided what to do with my life. Currently in my 2nd year I'm loving being able to develop my making skills to bring then up to the standard of my theoretical knowledge.
