Creative Coast is run by Sarah Yates & Lorna Crabbe, artists & arts professionals who met in 2008 and formed an alliance to promote artists' projects and encourage professional and creative links within Hastings and the South East. We have embarked on an exciting, new project and have been appointed as the management company to coordinate this year's Coastal Currents festival, we are working in collaboration with Dover based artist and curator, Christine Gist.

Creative Coast has just finished the mammouth task of completing the 64 page Festival Brochure! We are really excited about this years programme.. with the theme of Hidden Hastings, Coastal Currents this year highlights the wealth of creativity in the area and positions Hastings as a location to access high quality visual art on the South East coast.
Coastal Currents Arts Festival- 29th Aug- 30 Sept 2009
Coastal Currents celebrates it’s 10th year in a 4 week arts festival involving a series of exciting projects in visual art and moving image across Hastings. Over thirty artists, in Hastings & St Leonards, Rother and across the South East are creating temporary projects ranging from wallpapered alleys to bread-bird boxes in Memorial Gardens. These projects will run concurrently with an extensive programme of events including artists’ films ( inc.Pipilotti Rist and Roman Signer), talks, guided walks, hands-on workshops, live experimental music nights and over 100 artists involved in the Open Studios programme. This year Coastal Currents aims to provide a platform, not only for artists to profile their work, but to introduce key professional development tools. The talks programme presents an unique and comprehensive series of Professional Development sessions with representatives from across the South Coast, introducing themes including; How to fund your work, the development of project spaces, the growth of the arts in the South, an ARC artists advisory tour, critique sessions and seminars.

Creative Coast a newly formed artists organisation formed by Sarah Yates and Lorna Crabbe has taken on the Coastal Currents Arts Festival in Hastings this September! Working alongside the Independent Curator Christine Gist the team are curating and coordinating a festival focused on profiling moving image and visual arts across the South East. The programme is really taking shape presenting an extensive programme of events including artists’ films, guided walks, hands-on workshops, live experimental music nights and over 100 artists involved in the Open Studios programme. This year Coastal Currents has created an unique talks programme that introduces key professional development tools.
