Sorting things out...

I'm currently sorting through old work, seeing what worth salvaging, what is worth improving or continuing with etc. I have just finished university so its quite a cathartic experience - out with the old so to speak. Though I find it upsetting as well, I tend to be very self critical so confronted with past mistakes and shortcomings.... I am rarely a happy bunny.
Luckily I have a couple of small exhibitions coming up. So I have the opportunity to get the work out there and seen... and hopefully sold ;)
Does anyone else get that odd sense of melancholia when organising and clearing out old work? Or am I just a bit soft?

Hi Amy. No, I think it is natural to get like that looking through old stuff, I sort of link it to times of struggling with an early direction. But, there is the knowledge that it was all part of trying and moving forward. I have very little left of college days, just a few samples to remind me of important stages that may be critical to my current practice. I think, over time, you will see a maturity.
