I am an enameller with more work than I can manage a lot of time often working over 16 hours a day. My work is not expensive and is relatively commercially successful, but I am not happy. I want to do more, I want to make work that is interesting, exciting and not necessarily something that sells. But how to do this when time is short?
I am an enameller based in Bristol. I have been a full-time maker for nearly three years and have seen my business grow steadily over the past two years. I make enamel panels and jewellery and sell my work through galleries and shops and through selected contemporary craft fairs. My work has been described by customers as 'clean, fresh and contemporary' but is really just simple stylised visions of nature. I hand-cut stencils and then sift powdered enamel over them onto copper plates. These are then fired in a kiln.
