ASIAN SERIES PORTRAITS

By: Valery Koroshilov

After the solo-exhibition "New Paintings" at the Standard Chartered Bank London in January 2009, I returned to the theme of Asian Portraits and decided to develop a new body of work to continue the series.

# 1 [3 October 2009]

Some people live in rural villages, others in big cities.  Wherever they live - in mountains, forests and deserts, and on islands, people all around the world are busy doing the same things.

We may all look very different, but in many ways we are so much alike: we all have curiosity, dreams, fears and hopes, and the desire to open our hearts to others. It appears to be particularly obvious when I study the young people.

The Player and The Dreamer, pictured here, are from the Asian series. I consider this group of portraits as one continuous narration. Its purpose is to discover how much all these different people have in common with each other, and with us, and to recognize and celebrate something good in their lives.
