As well as family life, my life revolves around running an art studio and gallery in LLandudno, North Wales. I have been doing this for the last three years and I now feel ready to talk about the trials and joys of running my own art based business. This project blog starts with an open studio event on Friday 13th November 2009.
I graduated from the Wirral Metropolitan College this year. I specialise in painting and printmaking and more recently, bookmaking. Having had a sickly child, I am fascinated by the fragility of the human form, both in the domestic and envionmental setting and often use my daughter as a model for my work.

My reason for choosing Friday 13th for my open day at the studio was because it was more likely to be a date people will remember. My to do list this week includes gathering three images to use for the invitations to the opening. I hire out studio space to two other artists, so I have invited them to join in on the open day, hense the need for three images on the invites. A brief description of the studio is a large two story warehouse building, 70 square metres upstairs which is sectioned into five possible studio spaces. Downstairs is a teaching room and gallery where I also keep my printing press. I plan to sell off some of my work during the open day in order to clear some space and give friends and visitors a chance to buy original artwork.
