Allison John: This is your life 2009

This current work is about my life and what matters to me . It is about the small things that make up my day, the familiar things of family life that create my everyday world. The work starts with daily small sketches, 'Snapshots', capturing small fragments of everything around me.These are then translated into small woodcuts and collographs , printed either individually or in groups.

I am a printmaker exploring many different areas of print. I particularly enjoy mixing different print techniques in single images, using over layering to gain a sense of depth and interest in the final print. I am at present completing a BTEC diploma in Professional Printmaking at The Regional Print Centre, Wrexham.
I completed a BA(Hons.) in Fine Art at Glyndwr University in 2007.

This current work makes use of electric tools, which I have used for many years, to give a soft flowing line to my lino and woodcuts. For the first time, I am now using a router to form many of the lines in these images, as well as smaller drill heads for the fine 'sketching' work.
