# 3 [8 April 2011]

Sorry guys for the delay...I have been busy with crits, tutorials and doing the work preparation for our degree show in June. Which I thought was kinda ready for but my crit did go as well as I thought it would because they said my piece of work didn't look finished and their more that I can do to the work.

This is what I showed for my crit (Rangpiranghi)

Which to me I think I took a safe option and display the work is a modernist way. I was originally planning on scattering the work on the wall, but i wussed out. During my crit they said their should be more of the work. Which I agree with.

I also had a tutorial about my work and he said I was heading to more textile then painting, which again I agree with, I'm a painter not textilist (I'm not sure if that is a word or not)

So for the past week, I have been getting myself prepared for the degree show, which is only 7weeks away (which is a bit scary).

I have made tonnes of stretchers (which are roughly A4 size), also doing silkscreen prints which are on MDF and making my own paint (from raw pigments, which has been quite exciting to make, I will post images of them soon).

The reason why I have been doing so much preparation is because most of the workshops are going to be closed during the Easter holidays (which is next Friday), so I have been doing the preparation before hand so I'm ready to do the paintings and not worry about making more stretchers.

Also finally I have done some silkscreen print which I want to show you guys.

Recently I had a tutorial with Alexis Harding which went really well and he really liked the piece above, he said he like the way how some of the forms are faded than others and also he liked the layering of the work.

I'm going to continue making these prints and see how they work with the rest of my work.

Lux Exhibition

I'm currently in the Lux exhibition, which is an exhibition all to do with light.

www.luxexhibition.co.uk

My work didn't work as the UV light which is meant to shine on my work, was not strong enough for the scale of the work.

But it still works as an image.

What do you think? Does it work or not?

(sorry about the bad image)

Hi Clare, the size of the work is 110 x 130 cms. I'm hoping to get strong UV light and hopefully it will work. Amreen

Hi Amreen, it's a shame the UV light wasn't working. It's a very delicate design/image. I'm wondering what size/scale it is? Clare

I'm a student, studying Fine Art at Bath College of Art and Design. At the moment my work is about different ways to apply painting onto a surface, i'm also interested in using colours.
