Visual art exhibitions and events with a platform for critical writing
Social Work: Four Live Projects is an exhibition of work by four Manchester-based artist duos at the citys Cornerhouse centre for contemporary visual arts and film until 16 April.
Each duos work takes the context of the exhibition site the social spaces of Cornerhouse as a point of departure; considering who uses the spaces and why, and how these locations can be considered more widely. There is a live, changeable element to all the work, which may occur elsewhere in the city, but always returns to Cornerhouse functioning in this case as a hub rather than a venue, resulting in an exhibition that is in a constant state of flux. Another Product (James Moore and Dawn Woolley) has initiated a group exhibition that explores artists networks. They have invited seven artists from around the country to exhibit a small work. These artists will then go on to invite a number of others, and so on. The work is displayed on seven separate walls in the form of a spider diagram linking each artist to their invitee. Apartment (Paul Harfleet and Hilary Jack) has set up a telephone service called Visitor Assistance.
