In the afterglow of Obama's inauguration anything seems possible. Perhaps even the outlandish ambition of some shows will not backfire on the bold souls who drive them. For example 'Climate for Change' (FACT, 13 March - 31 May) claims to be "a unique experiment in activism, engagement and networking, examining the multiple crises affecting the planet - environmental, food, housing and economic, asking how do we respond?" Stormy seas, yes, yet spare a thought for those who face difficulty even in 'good times'³ The Way Out by 15mm Films (Beaconsfield, 25 March - 14 June) is a show of amusing, agitating art films by a collective of disabled artists that shake conventional expectations of this minority. Previewed on YouTube, these films surprise and stupefy, unleashing inner screams of approval. www.fact.co.uk www.beaconsfield.ltd.uk Film is also the forte of Jordan Baseman who shows Dark is the Night (Artsway, to 5 April), a faux documentary of the notorious Soho nightlife based on interviews with hedonists, faded actors, etc. Likewise, 'Artists vs Hollywood' (Globe Gallery, to 14 March) is film and video highlighting the indelibly intertwined yet rarely competitive relationship...
