Visual art exhibitions and events with a platform for critical writing
My current projects are very diverse, allowing me to operate within dramatically different scales, concepts, sites and media. My career has involved solo shows at home and abroad, and commissions from art foundations, museums and corporate bodies to create installations in new buildings and industrial settings. My whole output refers to the cyclical nature of the world's water a celebration of the release, distribution, collection and evaporation of the oceans. Water itself has become one of the main materials in my large installations. I had been reflecting on the possibility of directing a major project, a vast internal water installation, influenced by a previous work in the Netherlands in 2000, and including an education and symposia programme plus film, CD ROM and publications. Most of all, I wanted to make a work on home territory, to allow me time to feed off my own ideas rather than the usual situation of leaving a piece, once installed, and never seeing it again.
