WHO: artists with demonstrable experience delivering public art projects on a similar scale.
WHAT:
lead artist sought to design, fabricate and install a new artwork for West End Village Centre, as part of an on-going project to establish a trail inspired by the local historic figures of interest. Also to produce a vision document that facilitates the introduction of further smaller artworks into the village.
WHEN: the artist will be appointed on 01 June, and to begin developing ideas with the local community at a public event on the 23 June.
PAYMENTS: total budget of £15,000 + VAT, to cover all fees, consultation / community workshops, materials, fabrication, delivery, installation, and expenses. The artist must have appropriate public liability insurance and is responsible for their own NI and tax.
DETAILS:
the aims of the project are to create a gateway feature to the village centre; to produce a vision document for the introduction of further smaller artworks to the village; to improve access to local history; to create opportunities for the community to become involved in the design of their environment; and to contribute to the quality of life in the village through good design.
