Senior Lecturer in Design Crafts
WHO: you will have an existing profile within 'ceramics', either from commercial or studio environment, complementing our existing specialist areas of glass, textiles and metals. Experience of teaching within higher education and an interest in a multidisciplinary approach to a range of craft practices and materials is important. Experience of 'Digital Crafts' would be beneficial, though not essential. However, a passion for the future of craft and its relationship with technology, design and tradition is keenly sought.
WHAT: De Montfort University has recently formed a new School of Design which brings together the award winning areas of Product, Furniture, Interior and Design Crafts. The school incorporates undergraduate and post graduate study across a broad range of distinctive programmes which encompass both practice and theory. Our programmes are underpinned by excellence in teaching, research and design consultancy. We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and experienced person who will take a leading role in the development of 'Design Crafts'. You will work closely with the head of school and a committed course team to shape a multidisciplinary approach that builds upon an already successful programme.
