WHO: painters. British and American nationals and those of other countries resident for at least 5 years in the UK or the US are eligible to apply.
WHAT: Abbey Awards offer painters residencies during the academic year 2011/2012 in excellent modern atelier studios at the British School at Rome, a historic building close to the Borghese Gardens which houses researchers in the fields of archaeology, art history and ancient history as well as fine artists.
WHEN: The 9-month Scholarship is awarded to an early-career painter while the 3-month Fellowships (usually three) are for mid-career painters. The deadline for receipt of completed applications is 18:00 on Friday 14th January 2011.
PAYMENTS: All expenses are paid plus a monthly stipend of £500 for the Scholar and £700 for the Fellows.
