WHAT: AHRC Doctoral Studentship (PhD) in Fine Art
WHEN: starting in September 2011
PAYMENTS: full award covers fees and an annual, tax-free stipend of up to £13,590 (2011/12 rates, pro rata for part-time). A partial award covers fees only. To see if you would be eligible for a full or partial award, please see the AHRC's student eligibility criteria.
DETAILS: to enable students to undertake and complete a either a text-based or a practice-led doctoral degree (PhD) in Fine Art at Newcastle University. One studentship is expected to be available through this scheme for 2011 entry. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to articulate ideas through both visual and written means, and will have identified a specific topic for research. Candidates should be able to demonstrate critical abilities and show sustained engagement with and development of their practice, or in the case of a text-based PhD, sustained engagement with and development of their historical/theoretical research. Please note that if you require a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK, you will not be eligible for this funding.
