The 62 Group of Textile Artists' celebrates its 50th anniversary with the first of five exhibitions commencing with the Museum of Costume where the artists respond to the collection. www.62group.org.uk Read on »

Caren Garfen, 'Team Spirit (detail)', Silk threads hand stitched onto cotton, 2012. Photo: The artist. This artwork is based on the 19th century collection of parasols.  There is an identical parasol frame at the museum dated 1865-70. 'Team Spriit' looks at young women and alcohol in the 21st century. Hand stitched motifs found on two of the panels reference patterns found on the early parasols.
