BA (Hons) Fine Art... certificated by BCU and based at Solihull College :)
Hi *waves* umm... my work is based in stop motion animated book art, piano composition and accompaniment... with the theme of disasters (natural and man made) and how people cope with them.
# 25 [8 May 2012]
Well, finally discovered where my performance is going to take place... The theatre plan hasn't exactly worked out. But there is a plan B- one of the rooms in college normally used for life drawing. The space will be more easily accessible, now I just need to figure out how/if I can fit the piano in the lift. This could be interesting. On the bright side, I'm pretty sure the piano has wheels.

Bit worried about the art critic aka my little feline companion. She needs to have an operation tomorrow and a general anaesthetic :( Currently she's stalking around mewling and looking rather upset she's not allowed to go outside or have anything to eat. Thinking she might get desperate, I've taken the precaution of hiding the book sculptures just in case.
But anyway... back to the art...
Yayyy....!!! I've spent most of the day re-editing my film, to make it long enough for people to spend time watching but not too long that:
a) my hands will get cramp whilst playing the piano
and
b) people will get bored.
So,
finally it has finished rendering and is safely saved in multiple places :D

So much going on- havent really gotten round to blogging until now...
The piano and film together seem to have gone ok...
or at least it does seem to work together, but I have realised that the draft is way too short, so I need to find some sections of it to elongate...
or a particular thing to focus on more...
or even add in an extra scene. I'm not really sure yet - I guess it's back to the drawing board.
I probably should have done more to this sooner, but I got distracted with the dissertation.
On the bright side, I think my dissertation is finally finished!!
I'm just in the process of printing it out and binding so I can hand it in later in the week. Wooo!! Finally I really can get back to concentrating on creating new bits and bobs :D :D

Had had some feedback on my dissertation draft so was editing that this morning, slightly scary as I thought there would be loads to change, but it doesn't seem to be too bad, just editing and rearranging a few things.
Then I meandered off to trampolining :D No, not technically art, but a good way to let off steam, floating about in the air trying not to land on my face! The coach said I can try a flip next week, woohoo!

One draft of a film- check.
several saved copies- check
fully rendered film- almost check
next I'm going to perch the laptop on top of the piano, or nearby at least, so I can watch the film and play the piano at the same time and see what fits or how to change the music to make it fit better.

Nat Singleton. part of my stop motion animation experiment :D
# 20 [12 March 2012]
At last!!! I've spent the majority of today filming a draft of the stop motion animation film. I say draft because although I've used the actual props I think I'll use for the final film, its more a case of working out whats going to happen, how to cut between two scenes, all experimenty things. Then I can improve it for the final piece.
Although I had forgotten how SLOW the whole process is!!! Especially when the exact angle you want the camera to be at happens to be the one position that the tripod won't angle to, so you end up compensating by lying at a rather odd angle to balance the tripod, then realise that with both hands holding the tripod, and lying sideways to hold it, you can't actually move the props to film the animation, let alone find a spare hand to use the camera...

tiny people :)
# 19 [11 March 2012]
Finally got round to finishing the tiny paper people. YAY! They should all be dry for tomorrow, then I can start filming. :)
# 18 [10 March 2012]
plan for today:
step one: start little paper people.
step two: write proposal to use piano instead of keyboard for P.V.
step three: work out exactly how to write a proposal.
step four: send plan to tutors.

# 17 [8 March 2012]
Had my group crit today 0.o
Things I learnt:
1.) I can borrow a keyboard with an inbuilt speaker from college.
2.)Keyboards don't like glissandos. Especially when the sustain function doesn't work.
3.)I definitely prefer pianos to keyboards.
4.)Telling the group to imagine there was a film to go with the 'unique' keyboard playing was probably a bit optimistic.
