Manchester School of Art

Currently the only full-time embroidery course in the UK. It has a well established exchange programme with European universities including Rotterdam, Dublin and Bergen. You will be introduced to both hand and machine embroidery giving you the chance to use a range of industrial machines including computer aided embroidery equipment. Emphasis is placed on developing your creative language through an ongoing engagement with drawing and visual research.

I aim to break the stereotype of Embroidery, questioning "how broad can a stitch be defined?"

Using the everyday mundane as the dominant materials I aim to transform and recycle them, giving them a new lease of life. Distancing them from their original purpose so their value lies with the aesthetic qualities.
