I am currently exploring the process of painting, and examining the interactivity that occurs between differing mediums, focussing on support, surface, colour and texture.

The evolving behaviour of materials is fascinating to experience as I watch a painting change and develop before my eyes. I spend hours, literally, 'watching paint dry'.

Allowing previously applied layers & marks to show through enables me to see and remember the various stages that each work went through.

Aesthetically I admire much of the work produced during the Abstract Expressionist period, by American-based artists such as Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko and Franz Kline; and equally European artists such as Gerhard Richter, John Virtue and Callum Innes.
