The title of this exhibition is a complete Hemingway story, purportedly written as the result of a bet that he couldn't write a piece of fiction in six words or less. As a framework for the show, this disarmingly simple title operates the same way as many of the works, setting up a doorway in to a narrative that can only be completed by us. Following on from g39's guest-curated 'One in the Other' season, this is the first in a run curated by Michael Cousin; a selection of five artists whose works appear to draw on a recognisable world but exist in those little fractures where the recognisable becomes something else. Sarah Chilvers' work is an ongoing collection of found, hand-written notes. Ranging from familiar domestic lists to moments of profound self-realisation, these little lost and discarded scraps provide a window and a snapshot in to the minds of people we'll never know or meet. In doing so we're witness only to that moment of banality or enlightenment and are left to fill in the rest of the details ourselves.
