Space Station Sixty-Five
An artist-run space based in south east London, Space Station Sixty-Five (SS65) is co-Directed by Rachael House and Jo David and has been running since July 2002. It works closely with emerging artists to help publicise, promote and exhibit their work to a large and diverse audience in shop-front premises. Its aim is to place new works of contemporary art in a high street location, encourage local people to engage with the work of the artists, and for artists to engage with the community. The gallery has a healthy local following as well as a wider contemporary art audience. Window exhibitions engage with the street when there are not shows open to the public, and the gallery experiments with the way the building is used and explores the nature of an art space and how to use it. Space Station Sixty-Five’'s forthcoming off-site projects include curating Carney Town at The Portman Gallery, a group show with work by Mark McGowan, Alex Michon and others in June and July, The Nexus Treatment by Sarah Doyle at Waterloo Health Centre, a working GP practice and The Marquis of Camberwell part of Live on Stage at The Sun and Doves, with performances, readings, lectures and demonstrations by Tim Redfern (AKA Timberlina), Iain Aitch, Lady Lucy, Shane Waltener, Jo David, Rachael House and more, on 6 April. The North Cross Road gallery and project space will be undergoing architectural development in 2008.

Big Society, window exhibition- call out for submissions [ 27 October 2010 ]
Space Station Sixty-Five invites you to respond to the notion of BigSociety for an evolving window exhibition. New work is installed each week responding to themes and issues raised by the relevance of 'Big Society' to arts and arts funding.
