L'Histoire de l'oeil

WHO: all artforms.

WHAT: Labo HO is an annual competition for artists and architects interested in creating a project in residence at Marseille's bookstore-gallery Histoire de l'oeil.L'Histoire de l'oeil is a space dedicated to the contemporary arts. Both bookstore and gallery, the space can transform to accommodate a variety of specific installations. Lab HO is intended to provide the artist or architect who can take advantage of the unique aspects of the space with all the material support necessary to realize their project.The entire bookstore will be at the artist's disposal. The artist will have the opportunity to interact with the space as a whole or to use one of the many smaller spaces (the shed, the garden, the terrace, or the bookstore proper).
The candidate's proposal should include a description of how s/he would engage with the space for their exhibition. In particular, the proposals must explain how the installation will engage the unique architecture and context of the existing space, and also consider factors such as the accessibility of bookstore and the security of the visitors to the gallery.

WHEN: September 2011.

PAYMENTS: production budget of E2,000, publication budget of E2,000, Lab HO will reimburse the costs of housing and transportation during the installation, technical support / tools and the use of a car.
