WHO: UK based craft practitioners.

WHAT: Bluecoat Display Centre is pleased to announce our new integrated outreach programme ‘Making an Impact’, which will take place over the next three years. During the first 12 months, we will be researching, developing and testing this new programme, through a series of pilot residencies and outreach workshops and various other events and initiatives. Bluecoat Display Centre is inviting craft practitioners to work with us to develop this participation and learning programme through leading workshops and residencies and engaging new audiences and minority groups. Working with new audiences from a wider variety of communities, many of whom might not have had the opportunity to experience contemporary craft in the past, we want to extend our reach and programming in an immersive and integrated way. Partner organisations include the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital and Hope University Everton Campus, both of which we have longstanding relationships of working with creatively. The brief is open to artists across broad disciplines to suggest ways in which you might use your practice to engage the public in your work.

WHEN: We are inviting artists and makers to submit proposals for 1 of 6 pilot residencies to take place between July 2012 and April 2013. The residencies will be initially one day a week, over a one-month period (4 weeks) working within one of our partnering organisations in an immersive way, involving and engaging the public, to create a legacy within the organisation. Deadline: Wednesday 4th July. Successful applicants will be asked to attend an informal interview week beginning 9th July 2012.

PAYMENTS: Artist fee: £400 (for 4 sessions, Inclusive of expenses). Basic materials costs can be negotiated.
