Art Residencies at The London Rd Studios Northwich
WHO: Artists working with heritage and memory in installation,sculpture, flash mobs, interdisciplinary arts & media, intervention, sound art & socially engaged practices. Artists looking to develop workshops with local communities.
WHAT: How to respond when an arts institution closes its doors after 115 years of formal arts education? The London Rd Collective are seeking expressions of interest for short residencies to explore the London Rd Studios heritage, social and political impact & to re-imagine the buildings future.
WHEN: October to March
PAYMENTS: In kind access to art workshop space and gallery. Administration and marketing support.
DETAILS: Originally the Verdin Technical Schools & Gymnasium, Sir Joseph Verdin, Baronet of Brockhurst, gifted the studios to the local community to mark Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. The schools were donated to promote health and education and to encourage every class of society to improve themselves.
