Public sphere and rhetoric

WHO: All interested individuals, artists, curators, art theorists and other cultural producers living in the Nordic or the Baltic countries can receive the residency grant. The resident must be over 30 years of age and have not lived in Berlin before.

WHAT: Netres is a three year residency programme, initiated by Sparwasser HQ and involving other hosts, namely Signal in Malmö, rum46 in Århus and UKS in Oslo. netres is supported by Nordic Culture Point. Sparwasser HQ wishes to stimulate the communication between artists and the platform in Berlin AND to start a conversation about organisation of programs and residencies. Therefore Sparwasser HQ invited 3 other platforms to join and host residencies. Sparwasser HQ does not nessesarily believe in talking to artists and other producers according to their etnicity or place of origin (although we do care about differences and diverse representations). We prefer to make the open call international.  The residencies are not international but Nordic/Baltic because of the origin of funding. The result of the open call is of the global art community from which we wish to be inspired and challenged to think about our possibilities in contemporary culture. It is a place for open ended spontanious dialogue and experimentation, because we are interested in our time of change and transition. In researching projects we want to create a dynamic forum for exchange on the key concerns of the calls for 08/09/10.

WHEN: The residences are scheduled to take place in the following year, preferably January-March 2010.

DETAILS: We provide resident with airfare, apartment with internet access, a mobile phone, a bike, and an list of interesting contacts for the resident to meet. We will provide administrative support and assistance if requested and/or required.
