A rich and timely resource for all working in the
visual arts
Penny Jones profiles Clare Twomey, who makes large-scale ceramic installations for galleries and museums often in collaboration with the UK ceramics industry.
Clare Twomey makes compelling ceramic installations for galleries, museums and other, often historic, sites. Her installations reference the political and social landscapes past and present of the places where they are shown and the challenge of working in ceramic and its histories. As these works involve the creation of many units they increasingly require collaboration with the skilled workforce of the British ceramics industry.
She is one of the seven makers selected to exhibit in the inaugural Jerwood Contemporary Makers exhibition in June and July 2008 at the Jerwood Space in Southwark, London.
