Yorkshire-based artist Richard William Wheater is busy. He is currently a recipient of the Crafts Council Development Award, and is working on a new Arts Council England (ACE) funded touring project that launches at Dean Clough Galleries, Halifax in February 2009. This new work, Them And Us, is a series of large illuminated images that document the use of a mobile furnace to blow glass birds in locations around England. Once the birds are made, they are then 'set free', an action which is doomed from the start.
