A rich and timely resource for all working in the
visual arts
Frances Lord discusses her practice as a curator, writer, freelance project manager and art consultant with Jane Watt.
Frances Lord, like many artists, curators and arts professionals describes her practice as "diverse". Her background is firmly rooted in crafts, starting out at the Crafts Council over two decades ago, and working as Crafts Officer for South East Arts in the 1990s. She has extensive experience as a project manager of public art projects, consultant, mentor and independent curator. She remarks: "These roles do complement each other and overlap, although each have their own challenges, frameworks and constraints. I have always enjoyed research and writing so public art strategies and policies are a good complement to project management and other consultancy work. I try to balance out the different areas of work and, when time allows, develop self-initiated projects which can be extremely rewarding in terms of critical discourse."
