Film and Video Umbrella (FVU) is a curatorial agency based in London.
The organisation was established in 1989 to promote and develop artists single-screen works in film and video, and is now one of the principal touring agencies for artists film, video and digital media in the UK.
Film and Video Umbrella has worked with a diverse range of film and video artists. In the last eighteen months the organisation has commissioned pieces by Isaac Julien, Mark Lewis, Jane and Louise Wilson, Adam Chodzko, George Barber, Erika Tan, Janice Kerbel, Sonia Boyce, Dryden Goodwin and Jayne Parker, amongst others. Our curated programmes have given exposure to a number of artists at varying career stages, and have introduced UK audiences to the latest and most innovative figures in the field, as well as helping to situate their work in its broader artistic and cultural context. While many of the programmes compiled by FVU feature well-established artists, they've also included names less well-known at the time such as John Wood and Paul Harrison, Smith/Stewart and Roddy Buchanan. In recent years there has been a shift in our activity towards the development and staging of gallery-based touring projects. Recent exhibitions include 'Cinerama' Isaac Julien, 'Peeping Tom' Mark Lewis, and 'Foxfire Eins' Jayne Parker.
