LONDON
BasementArtProject.com is a contemporary art network led by London based artist, Yu-Chen Wang with a group of international artists, curators and researchers. BasementArtProject.com has no fixed premises and was founded in July 2005 as an internet-based project space. After presenting ten on-line projects, BasementArtProject.com has shifted its focus to develop curatorial projects in diverse spaces both in the UK and abroad. Basement ArtProject.com is a self-funding organisation and has received support from Arts Council England, British Council, embassies of different countries and from private sponsors. BasementArtProject.com is interested in exploring innovation and experimentation in contemporary art practice through international and cross- disciplinary collaboration. Without having a permanent space, BasementArtProject.com seeks the challenge of working in a verity of spaces, such as galleries, public and alternative spaces both in the UK and abroad. BasementArtProject.com invites artists from abroad to work and exhibit in the UK as well as take British/ international artists to different countries. BasementArtProject.com aims to work in collaboration with artists and to generate funds and recourses to assist artists producing and realizing new works. Also to offer the opportunities to artists from diverse practices (visual art, film, music and theatre³) to work together. BasementArtProject.com produces publications and invites writers, art critics and artists to contribute their work. The publications are not only presentation of the artists' work; often they reflect on the contextualization of curatorial practice. They are referential material and also part of the project.
